Offshore Fishing ranges from 200 - 5000 feet of water. We generally have 4-6 lines on the surface, 1-2 lines on the down rigger, and a teaser to attract bigger fish. Fishing offshore, we target schools of Mahi Mahi (dolphin), Wahoo, Tuna, Sailfish, and Marlin. Our best offshore fishing is between April and August as these fish migrate through the waters of the Florida Keys. Marlin are most likely to be caught in the Summer time feeding on small schools of Mahi Mahi and Tuna. These are our biggest game fish ranging from 100 lbs - 600 lbs.
When heading out on the excursion, we head straight South and seek birds, seaweed, and any debris floating in the ocean that may attract these fish. Wahoo's are primarily caught under floating debris due to the high volume of bait fish lingering. While trolling we use freshly rigged ballyhoo, mullet, and mackerel and travel at a speed of 5-10 knots. Offshore fishing is fun for all ages and is extremely popular for vacationing in The keys.
